The climate in San Diego County is good year round. The average summer
tempuratures are around 75 to 80 degrees. The winter tempuratures range from 60 to 75
Winter is the "stormy" season. A storm in San Diego is
defined as a drop of rain or more than one cloud in the sky. It is rare to have rain between April and November.
Beaches: The weather is perfect year round for walking on the beach. The swimming season is from June
until the end of October. Keep in mind though that the water in the Pacific is quite cool -
68 to 72 degrees is about as good as it gets.
Mountains: Summer, spring and fall are the best times for hiking or camping in the mountains. The fall is
especially pretty in the Lagunas when the leaves change. Sometimes it snows in the winter and the locals like
to go up and look at it. If you are a snowbird, this might not be so interesting for you.
Deserts: The deserts are beautiful all winter - clear blue skies with temperatures around
80, but they are best seen in the spring when the cactus are in bloom. It is always cold in the desert at night.
Mexico: Coastal Baja is good year round.
If you go further south into the desert, it is best in the winter.
